March 7, 1998Abaz Thaçi (Abaz Isuf Thaçi, 1964–1999) was a military officer and member of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), known for his role in the Battle of Koshare. He was born on September 14, 1964, and fell in battle on May 16, 1999, during clashes with Serbian forces in the Koshare area.

Also known as Katana, he was a commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), a poet, and a painter. He was born on May 3, 1963, in the village of Zhegër, Gjilan.

Sali Çekaj was a jurist, an activist for the national cause, and one of the early commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
April 19, 1999March 5-7, 1998 - The first major attack by Serbian forces against the Jashari family. 58 family members were killed, including women and children.
January 15, 1999 - 45 Albanian civilians were killed by Serbian forces. This massacre helped lead to the decision for NATO bombings.
March 28, 1999 - More than 140 men and boys were killed in an ethnic cleansing operation in the village of Izbica in Drenica.
March 25, 1999 - 241 men abducted and killed during ethnic cleansing operations in the Rahovec municipality.
